The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose on Tuesday as the corporate earnings season kicked off with J.P. Morgan Chase and Citigroup posting stronger-than-forecast quarterly results.

The 30-stock Dow traded up 100 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were little changed, however, hovering just below the flatline.
