U.S. stocks opened near unchanged Tuesday, moving into consolidation mode a day after all three major indexes logged another round of all-time highs.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 6 points, or less than 0.1%, at 28,229, while the S&P 500 edged up 0.1% to 3,194. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.1% at 8,820.
Shares of Boeing Co. were a drag on the blue-chip Dow, falling 0.9% after the plane-maker confirmed late Monday it would suspend production of its 737 Max aircraft.
Shares dropped more than 4% Monday after The Wall Street Journal reported the company was weighing such a move.
