U.S. stocks opened lower after touching another round of fresh highs last week. Early-morning reports cast doubt on the possibility of an agreement between American and Chinese negotiators, however.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 34 points, 0.1%, at the open, to 27,971, but recovered shortly after the open. The S&P 500 opened 3 points lower, or 0.1%, at 3,117. The Nasdaq -0.36% ticked down about 13 points, 0.2%, to 8,527. Shares of Boeing Co were higher in the morning on reports of future orders for its 737 Max8 Aircraft.
