U.S. stocks on Tuesday were poised to slip for a second session in a row as investors focused on Sino-American trade talks, with the latest developments making it unclear that a grand resolution can be achieved soon.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 146 points, or 0.5%, to reach 26,296, those for the S&P 500 fell 13.75 points, or 0.5%, to 2,923.75, while Nasdaq-100 futures retreated 35.75 points to reach 7,704.25, a decline of 0.5%.
On Monday, the Dow fell 95.70 points, or 0.4%, to close at 26,478.02, while the S&P 500 index gave up 13.22 points, or 0.5%, to end at 2,938.79. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 26.18 points, or 0.3%, to finish at 7,956.29.
