Stocks saw a higher start on Tuesday as investors monitored the state of U.S.-China trade talks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 88 points, or 0.3%, to 27,038. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.4% to 8,147. The S&P 500 rose 0.3% to 3,001. Bloomberg News reported China had agreed to waive tariffs on U.S. soybean imports for some domestic state and private companies.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said trade talks were still on track for October, and that lower-level negotiations had made progress. In other news, U.K.'s top court ruled that Prime Minister Boris Johnson's move to suspend Parliament had violated the law, alleviating fears that the U.K. was heading towards a no-deal Brexit arrangement.
