Stocks opened higher Friday after a much weaker-than-expected May jobs report, with support attributed to expectations the soft data will help push the Federal Reserve toward delivering a rate cut in coming months.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 88 points or 0.3%, to 25,808, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.4% to 2,853.51. The Nasdaq Composite rallied 35 points, or 0.5%, to 7,651.
