Stock futures tumbled sharply on Monday, as global markets sold off amid fears that trade talks between the U.S. and China were on the verge of collapse, after President Donald Trump threatened to raise tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slid 480 points, or nearly 1.8%, to 26,023, while S&P 500 futures fell 50.60 points, or 1.7%, to 2,896.75. Nasdaq-100 futures slumped 162 points, or 2%, to 7,704.75.
On Friday, the Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 127.22 points, or 1.6%, at 8,164, with technology-heavy index carving out an all-time high. The S&P 500 index climbed 1% to 2,945.64. The Dow rose 197.16 points, or 0.8%, to 26,504.95.
