U.S.stock benchmarks retreated modestly Wednesday as a violence between India and Pakistan unnerved investors globally. Meanwhile, investors awaited a second day of testimony from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who yesterday affirmed a wait-and-see approach to interest-rate changes in front the Senate Banking Committee.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were off 69 points, or 0.3%, at 25,970, those for the S&P 500 index were down 6.60 points to reach 2,785, a decline of 0.2%. Nasdaq-100 futures, meanwhile, were off 15 points, or 0.2%, at 7,102.75.
