U.S. stock futures plunged late Wednesday after Apple Inc. lowered its holiday-quarter sales forecast.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were down more than 300 points, or 1.3%, as of 10 p.m. Eastern. S&P 500 futures were off more than 1.2%, and tech-heavy Nasdaq futures sank more than 2%. Apple shares dropped nearly 8% in after-hours trading after the Wednesday afternoon announcement, in which the tech giant blamed disappointing sales on weakness in China. The news had broad repercussions across the tech industry, with some of the biggest tech names, such as Microsoft Corp. and Netflix Inc. falling in after-hours trading.
