Gold climbed from the lowest close in two weeks as investors weighed a revival in U.S.-China tensions and prospects for slower global growth against stronger-than-expected U.S. corporate earnings. China threatened to retaliate if the U.S. Congress follows through with legislation that would require an annual review of whether Hong Kong is sufficiently autonomous from Beijing to justify its special trading status.
