Pound Hits Four-Month Low as Pressure Mounts on May: Inside U.K.

The pound fell to a four-month low versus the dollar as pressure mounted on Theresa May to abandon her Brexit deal, which is facing widespread opposition from lawmakers, and step down as U.K. prime minister.

Sterling drops as much as 0.4% to $1.2662, the lowest level since Jan. 4, slips 0.3% to 88.10 pence per euro

The U.K. currency had rallied Tuesday in an initial response after May outlined plans to give lawmakers a vote on a second referendum should they back her deal.
