Gold held steady on Thursday in cautious trading before a European Central Bank meeting where the bank is expected to provide clarity on its stance on monetary policy easing amid tepid economic data from the region.
Spot gold rose 0.1% to $1,426.76 per ounce by 09:30 GMT. Prices were short of last week’s peak at $1,452.60.
Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures rose 0.2% to $1,427 per ounce.
Platinum inched higher 0.8% to $882.30, while palladium edged down slightly to $1,539.08.
