U.S. stocks opened slightly lower on Tuesday, after initial enthusiasm over a potential Sino-American trade deal had faded and investors focused on China setting a downbeat growth forecast for 2019.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 0.1% lower at 25,801, while the S&P 500 kicked off down 0.1% at 2,790. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index was also down 0.1% at 7,572 at the open. In individual stocks, Target Corp was in focus as it rose following its fourth quarter earnings.
