U.S. stocks opened slightly higher Friday in an effort to bounce back from a Thursday selloff that saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed more than 300 points as investors fretted about global growth and geopolitical tensions.
The S&P 500 rose 0.3% to 2,778, while the Dow was up 76 points, or 0.3%, to 25,455. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.5% to 7,524.
Stocks found their footing as Chinese equities bounced back from the previous day's sharp fall, stabilizing after authorities attempted to soothe nervous investors and dispel worries over the country's trade conflict with the U.S.
