U.S. stocks came under pressure at the opening bell on Tuesday as investors dealt with lingering concerns over higher bond yields and their knock-on impact for equities.
The S&P 500 was down 2 points, or 0.1%, to 2,882. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 31 points, or 0.1%, to 26,459. The Nasdaq Composite fell 3 points, or less than 0.1%, to 7,731. The broad-market S&P was set to extend its losing streak to four sessions, briefly falling below its 50-day moving average on Monday.
Higher yields have weighed on appetite for risk assets as investors digest the consequences of rising borrowing costs on corporations.
