U.S. stocks rose to close higher Thursday, rebounding from the previous day's weakness, as technology shares outperformed in a broad-based rally.
Of the 11 S&P 500 industries, the information technology sector was the biggest winner, jumping 1.8%. Market sentiment recovered following a report that officials from the U.S. and China are working to resume trade negotiations to ease tensions.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 224 points, or 0.9%, to 24,925. The S&P 500 rose 24 points, or 0.9%, to 2,798 while the Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 107 points, or 1.4%, to 7,823.
