U.S. equity markets opened higher on Wednesday, driven by energy shares that got a boost from higher oil prices in the wake of plans to renew economic sanctions on Iran.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 59 points, or 0.2%, to 24,413. The S&P 500 index advanced 6 points, or 0.2% to 2,6797. The S&P 500 energy sector rose 1.7%.
