Asian shares took a breather as investors were seen taking profits after six weeks of gains amid the U.S. government shutdown and weakness in Korean technology shares.

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index declined 0.2 percent to 183.31 as of 10:45 a.m. in Hong Kong, led by materials and industrial shares. Korean technology shares weighed on the country’s benchmark Kospi index after reports that Apple Inc.asked Korean partners to cut part supplies. Samsung Electronics Co. was the biggest drag on both gauges, falling as much as 2.7 percent.
