Chinese technology giant Huawei Technologies plans to conduct massive layoffs in its business operations in the United States in the midst of a US buying problem asked for the telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Reuters reported Sunday (14/7) Wall Street Journal.
Citing sources who did not disclose their identity, the Wall Street Journal reported layoffs would have an impact on workers in Huawei's subsidiaries engaged in research and development, Futurewei Technologies. Child who helps 850 employees in research laboratories throughout the United States, according to the WSJ.
Layoffs might reach some employees, said one source at the WSJ. Huawei employees who are Chinese citizens and work in the US are given the choice to return to China and work in the company, another source said.
Some employees have received notifications about layoffs, while more employee meetings are approved and will be announced, the paper said.
Huawei declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.
