Yen Edges Toward Six-Month Low on Policy Divergence

The yen edged toward a six-month low against the dollar as investor focus returned to the divergence between Japan's sluggish economy and the prospect of further tightening from the Federal Reserve.

Japan's currency extended losses after its worst week since September as President Donald Trump's trip to Europe took the focus away from the U.S. trade dispute with China. Australia's dollar fell briefly as Chinese data showed the world’s second-biggest economy slowed. Japanese financial markets are shut for a holiday.

USD/JPY rose 0.1% to 112.49 after advancing to 112.80 on Friday, the highest since January. Pair jumped 1.7% last week.

AUD/USD little changed at 0.7424 after declining as much as 0.3%.

Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index was little changed Monday after rising 0.6% last week.
